Wishlist Wednesday #1

My very first Wishlist Wednesday! A meme about books that are on my Wishlist to buy and then read.

This Wednesday its The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. One, the cover looks awesome, what with its insinuating cover and all. A circus on the palm of someone's hand? Yes please. Two, I feel like books about magicians are rare, so let's give it a go.

The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called "Le Cirque des Reves," and it is only open at night.

But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway—a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them, this is a game in which only one can be left standing, and the circus is but the stage for a remarkable battle of imagination and will. Despite themselves, however, Celia and Marco tumble headfirst into love—a deep, magical love that makes the lights flicker and the room grow warm whenever they so much as brush hands.

True love or not, the game must play out, and the fates of everyone involved, from the cast of extraordinary circus performers to the patrons, hang in the balance, suspended as precariously as the daring acrobats overhead.

The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden

Just started reading this, and so far it's great, yet it's also increasingly irritating. I love books that make you feel. Though I hate them too. But at the same time we can't stop reading them.

For Kayden, suffering in silence was the only way to survive. If he was lucky, he could keep his head down, do as he was told, and make it through the day. But one night it seemed like his luck-and his life-might finally end... until an angel named Callie appeared just in time to rescue him.

Callie has never believed in luck. Not since her twelfth birthday when everything was taken from her. After the worst was over, she locked up her feelings and vowed never to tell anyone what happened. Now, six years later, she continues to struggle with the painful secret that threatens to consume her.

When fate lands Kayden and Callie at the same college, Kayden is determined to get to know the beautiful girl who changed his destiny. Quiet and reserved, Callie still fears letting anyone else into her world. But Kayden is certain that Callie has come back into his life for a reason. And the more he tries to be a part of her life, the more he realizes that, this time, it's Callie who needs to be saved...

New Babies

A somewhat small book haul simply for the fact that my room here doesn't have a bookshelf, I know, it's terrible. But a book recommended to me, a clearance book, and a "Book to Make You Think".

Yesterday was a beautiful day for book shopping. Went to my very first two story Barnes & Noble! Nearly fainted when I saw its beauty. Not to mention it looks a bit like Gringott's ;) A good $50 well spent on three books, and renewing my membership to get that wonderful 10% off every time.

Flashback Friday #1

It's Flashback Friday guys! I'm showcasing a book that I've read (at least once) in the past. Well, I read this book once when it came out, then another time when its sequel came out, Through the Zombie Glass. I'm a huge fan of Alice in Wonderland, so I figured this book be the perfect mash-up of that and zombies. This book lived up to everything I expected from it. Romance, action, Alice, zombies, and of course the "occasional" group of hot badass guys. Gena Showalter truly made magic happen in this book and its sequels.

She won't rest until she's sent every walking corpse back to its grave. Forever.

Had anyone told Alice Bell that her entire life would change course between one heartbeat and the next, she would have laughed. But that's all it takes. One heartbeat. A blink, a breath, a second, and everything she knew and loved was gone.

Her father was right. The monsters are real.

To avenge her family, Ali must learn to fight the undead. To survive, she must learn to trust the baddest of the bad boys, Cole Holland. But Cole has secrets of his own, and if Ali isn't careful, those secrets might just prove to be more dangerous than the zombies.
